It seemed a shame to be having a poetry festival in Falmouth, so rich in maritime history, without taking to the water.
So that’s what we’ll be doing on Sunday 13 November, when the festival will be afloat for an open-mic on the stately pleasure cruiser the MV Princessa. If you’d like to read a poem on board, bring one along – suggested theme: “Voyage”.
This event is open to all, whether or not you’ve got a ticket to the festival – you can buy a ticket online here (scroll down to ‘Boat trip’) or simply turn up at the quayside (£10, or £7 concessions).
The boat leaves at 2.30 from Prince of Wales Pier in Falmouth. Our destination will be decided on the day and will depend a bit on the weather. But it’s safe to say that it will be a poetic as well as a nautical journey.
